i'm continuously fascinated by the thought that behind every unremarkable door,
and ubiquitous ten foot high wall,
within every latin american city bar none,
there exists, in all likelihood,
a hidden garden, terrace, refuge, utopia -
call it what you will.
every single one contains a story - or rather many.

shameless artistic rip-off of a cross between bruno barbey

until recently my only source for the carbohydrate narcotic

argentine visa requirements stipulate that any
and all foreign persons publishing, posting or otherwise communicating
to/with the outside world with reference to
their time spent in argentina (or any other latin american country)
must depict, demonstrate, describe, show or otherwise make mention of
the almighty yerba mate
(regardless of whether one prefers a good strong coffee any day of the week)

corporate workhorse: michael howe
(and a couple posers)

when unemployed, why not turn to shameless corporate prostitution?

lopez mendes, ilha grande

it has it's fair share of detractors, but i for one love a good morning acai

sergio avello, museo de arte latinoamericano de buenos aires (MALBA)

if this fails to bring a smile to your face, you weren't raised north of the 49th parallel

despite considerable evidence to the contrary, rio ain't all about flossin', booties & hardbodies
(that being said, the subjects above were representative of the exception not the rule)

i'm in brazil for the next week and a half but in lieu of some photos, a quote of a quote (how deplorable) - afterall, the internet is nothing if not a carnival of regurgitation:

¨to be a tourist is to escape accountability. errors and failings don't cling to you the way they do back home. you're able to drift across continents and languages, suspending the operations of sound thought.
