In all honesty, I hope the artist never considered this installation 'inspired' (in the ironic or absurd sense) when the regression is already plain to see in the Che shirts at thechestore, cheshirt, and che-mart online (to name a few)? Not to mention the fact that such shirts can be bought at Urban Outfitters!!! ...Che's image even graced a bottle of root beer I once bought in Kelowna. We needn't have someone tell us that Che is a commodity since to the vast majority he has never been anything other than a commodity.
Having said that, the reality of Che's existence in Latin America (and Argentina in particular) is different from that found in middle class Canada. Maybe this image speaks more loudly to Latin Americans...? In Canada, for worse, this image (and it's inspiration) is hollow.
